05 / STANDARD

ZINE Human Origin Standard

The certificate is the surface. Evidence is the value.

A ten-part standard documents human authorship, physical creation, materials, edition and provenance — while stating uncertainty honestly.

01

Human conceived

The originating artistic decision belongs to a verified person.

02

Human created

The collected object is the result of human craft and direction.

03

Physical process verified

A witnessed material process connects maker to object.

04

No generative AI in the object

AI may support the institution, but not generate the collected work.

05

Creation evidence archived

Process photographs, notes, negatives, drafts or equivalent evidence are retained.

06

Materials documented

Paper, film, chemistry, pigment, clay, textile, sound carrier or other materials are recorded.

07

Artist identity verified

The maker and their authority to offer the work are checked.

08

Edition registered

Edition size, proofs and future reproduction limits are declared before acquisition.

09

Provenance begins at creation

The chain starts with the maker rather than being reconstructed later.

10

Preservation copy archived

A reference record supports future identification and conservation.

Trust controls

Confidence has categories.

ZINE distinguishes what is verified, attributed, supported by artist testimony, inferred from evidence or still unresolved. Luxury trust grows when uncertainty is described, not hidden.

The ZINE Human Origin Standard is the house’s own documentation and verification framework. It is not an independent governmental or external certification.
