What Makes HUMAN EVIDENCE a Preservation Collection, Not a Photo Series

A series groups images. A preservation collection connects selected objects to materials, edition limits, condition, collaborators and future ownership.

01

The central idea

The distinction is institutional. HUMAN EVIDENCE is not presented as a stream of project highlights; it is a set of four records designed to remain legible as physical and historical objects.

02

What the evidence shows

Each work has a permanent number, Human Origin Record, Certificate of Origin, Provenance Passport, process documentation, conservation guidance and a preservation scan or negative reference.

Preservation connects present enjoyment to future legibility. Materials, display limits, storage, handling and condition changes must be recorded before small problems become irreversible.

03

What collectors should notice

Ask what survives beyond the image file. A mature acquisition record should help a future collector identify the work, understand its limits and continue its provenance without changing its identity.

  • What are the material risks?
  • Which housing and display conditions are appropriate?
  • How will future inspections be added to the record?
04

The ZINE position

ZINE keeps source material and documentation alive without manufacturing scarcity through destruction.

The aim is not to turn process into mythology. It is to keep the object, its limits and the human moment behind it understandable for the next collector.
